Summary - The Laird of Cockpen wants a wife but is too preoccupied with affairs of state to do much courting. He fixes upon a penniless girl of good family. He dresses up in a powdered wig, fine clothes and a cocked hat, thinking that nobody could refuse such a fine figure of a laird.
